Electrical Engineer

Burlington, Vermont

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and evaluate electrical systems for energy efficiency, infrastructure upgrades, and performance-based projects

  • Perform electrical engineering calculations including load analysis, short-circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and power quality assessments

  • Develop drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for electrical systems 

  • Support energy audits and site assessments, including data collection and field verification

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, construction teams, and external stakeholders

  • Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction

  • Support commissioning activities and functional testing of electrical systems

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and local AHJ requirements)

  • Assist in cost estimating, lifecycle analysis, and energy savings calculations

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal engineering standards and best practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field

  • 3–7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience (energy services, buildings, or infrastructure preferred)

  • Working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems and building electrical design

  • Familiarity with energy efficiency technologies and building systems

  • Proficiency with engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, ETAP, or similar)

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a project-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT with intent to obtain PE

  • Experience in energy performance contracting, ESCO projects, or decarbonization initiatives

  • Knowledge of lighting design, controls, renewable energy systems, or battery storage

  • Experience with commissioning or construction support

  • Familiarity with utility incentive programs and measurement & verification (M&V)
