Position Overview:
We are seeking a Project Manager / Estimator with a strong background in mechanical systems, particularly in HVAC air-side projects. This role is responsible for reviewing engineered plans, preparing accurate mechanical estimates, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and managing projects through successful completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Review mechanical plans and specifications for HVAC and sheet metal systems
Perform material takeoffs and develop complete bids (materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment)
Design and identify resources for installation, retrofit, and repair projects
Work with purchasing, vendors, and subcontractors to gather accurate cost data
Coordinate with internal teams to meet bid deadlines and project requirements
Conduct site surveys and equipment evaluations for owner-direct replacement, redesign, or retrofit opportunities
Present proposals to customers and manage projects as needed
Monitor work progress on job sites to ensure schedules and expectations are met
Provide technical support to field technicians
Complete additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in mechanical estimating or installation (required)
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, air distribution, refrigeration, and building automation (required)
Proficiency in CAD and BIM (required)
High school diploma or GED (required)
Strong math, communication, and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Ability to learn and use ERP/project management systems
Work Environment:
This role involves both office-based work and regular visits to active job sites, which may include construction environments with uneven terrain and moving equipment.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to safely access and navigate construction sites.
