Job Title: Senior Project Developer - Solar

Reports To: Director – Solar & EV

Department: Engineering

FLSA Status: Exempt

Travel: Approximately 25-30%

 

Summary: The Senior Project Developer – Solar will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and implementing electrical systems for solar projects. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of solar energy projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Electrical System Design: Designing electrical systems for solar energy projects, including solar PV arrays, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and associated equipment.

· Electrical Estimation: Preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical components and systems, considering material costs, labor requirements, and project specifications.

· CAD Utilization: Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and modify electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts.

· Compliance and Standards: Ensuring compliance with local, national, and industry-specific electrical codes and standards.

· Technical Documentation: creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, equipment lists, and test reports.

· Project Collaboration: Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including project managers, solar engineers, and construction personnel, to ensure successful project execution.

· Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Identifying and resolving electrical engineering issues, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing corrective actions.

· Quality Assurance: Conducting quality inspections and tests to verify the integrity and performance of electrical systems.

· Continual Learning: Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in solar energy technologies, electrical codes, and industry best practices.

Education/Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree a plus.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the solar industry, specifically in electrical engineering roles.

· Strong proficiency in electrical system design for solar projects based on project requirements and industry standards.

· CAD Proficiency; knowledge of Electrical Codes and Standards.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders effectively.

 

Language Ability:

· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

 

Math Ability:

· Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability:

· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:

· To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Microsoft Office knowledge, Excel power user; Inventory software, Helioscope, and Project Management software.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Directly supervises Operations Managers in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

· Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
