Chief Commercial Officer

Trystar’s team members are the most important asset, and we are in search of a Chief Commercial Officer based out of our our Burnsville, MN office.


Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Commercial Officer will play a pivotal role in driving the company's commercial strategy – both marketing, sales, and customer support - overseeing and optimizing commercial operations to provide the most value to customers and maximize positive customer experience and ultimately lead the way for the continued growth and health of the business.

In this role you will get to:

  • Develop and Implement Commercial Strategies:
    • Create and execute strategies aligned with the company's vision and objectives.
    • Oversee sales, marketing, and customer support roadmaps to drive revenue growth and market share.
    • Rapidly increase customer and market share through strategic market analysis.
    • Implement customer feedback groups and mechanisms to guide business decisions.
    • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
    • Achieve pricing objectives through strategic market analysis.
  • Build Accountability and a High-Performing Team:
    • Foster a culture of accountability with clear performance metrics.
    • Attract, retain, and develop top talent for a high-performing team.
    • Enhance productivity through training and talent development. 
  • Leverage Data & Analytics to Drive Performance:
    • Establish a data-driven framework to improve decision-making and transparency.
    • Use data to enhance commercial operations efficiency, manage performance, and support continuous improvement.
  • Prepare the Team to Scale the Business Organically and Inorganically:
    • Develop scalable systems and processes for growth through mergers, acquisitions, and organic expansion.
    • Build tools and platforms that enable aggressive and effective acquisition integration and value creation.
    • Create a unified operating model focused on customer service.
    • Manage commercial resources and investments for optimization.
    • Execute integration strategies to maximize synergies.
  • Improve Cross-functional Processes and Communication from Sales to Product Delivery:
    • Enhance organizational flexibility for customization at scale.
    • Ensure accurate and timely information flow to stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with other departments to align with company goals and execute plans effectively.
  • Be a Trusted Senior Leadership Partner:
    • Establish credibility and become a key member of the executive team.
    • Build relationships and instill confidence in stakeholders.
    • Work closely with the CEO, C-suite leaders, and investors.
    • Contribute to strategy development and setting company targets.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior commercial leadership roles in public, private equity-backed, or private companies in commercial / industrial manufacturing with revenues of at least $350M.  Experience in a PE-backed business preferred.
  • Experience leading a company's commercial operations through hyper-growth phases, including aggressive M&A integration.
  • Demonstrated results from leading commercial efforts across the disciplines of sales, marketing, and customer support.
  • Experience building scalable commercial systems and playbooks that support mergers and acquisitions, ensuring consistent performance across new entities while achieving synergies post-integration.
  • Demonstrated success improving existing processes and infrastructure, adjusting for scale, in support of top-line and EBITDA growth.
  • Strong experience in the use of modern systems, tools, and technology to manage commercial operations and performance.
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves leader who has strong executive presence and professionalism and can command the respect of Board of Directors, colleagues, subordinates, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience leading, managing, and improving teams, including maximizing the effectiveness of organizational structures and internal processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills to consistently inform and influence at all levels internally and externally. Proven ability to create and articulate a focused vision, as well as gain buy-in and collaboration from across the organization.
  • Forward-looking and growth-minded leader with a relentless focus on constant improvement and adaptability in a changing and challenging environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of upgrading talent, rewarding those who perform, and coaching those who have development needs.
