We are working with a respected Owner’s Representative firm known for delivering high-performance building systems to a wide range of clients. They are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join their growing team and support the successful delivery of mechanical and MEP commissioning projects.
As a Commissioning Engineer, you’ll assist in the commissioning of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems across commercial and institutional buildings. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to grow your technical skills, learn from senior engineers, and gain exposure to a wide variety of projects.
Assist in developing commissioning plans, equipment checklists, and functional test procedures
Conduct site visits to support inspections, equipment start-up, and system testing
Work with senior commissioning staff to review design drawings and equipment submittals
Help track issues, prepare field reports, and document test results
Collaborate with project teams including engineers, contractors, and client representatives
Support troubleshooting of system issues and monitor system performance
Stay current with industry standards and best practices related to MEP systems
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
0–3 years of experience in building systems, HVAC, or commissioning (internships/co-ops welcome)
Basic understanding of mechanical systems and controls; familiarity with electrical and plumbing systems a plus
Eagerness to learn commissioning processes and industry standards such as ASHRAE and LEED
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic commissioning software/tools
Willingness to travel to project sites in the Minneapolis metro area
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward it is a plus
