Position Title: Account Executive – Public Sector Energy Solutions

Location: South Florida | Remote options available

Reports To: Director of Sales, Public Sector

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Account Executive to join our team, focused on selling comprehensive energy solutions projects into the public sector. This role will involve building and nurturing relationships with a diverse range of public sector clients, including state and local government agencies, K-12 school districts, higher education facilities, and healthcare organizations. The Account Executive will be responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying and closing sales opportunities related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy management, and sustainability solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Development & Strategy: Identify, prospect, and cultivate relationships with potential clients in the public sector, including state and local government agencies, K-12 school districts, universities, and healthcare facilities.

  • Solution Selling: Develop a deep understanding of each client's unique energy needs and challenges, and present tailored solutions that align with their goals for energy efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability.

  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling, customized proposals and presentations that clearly communicate the value of our energy solutions and address the client’s specific requirements.

  • Project Lifecycle Management: Lead the sales process from initial contact through contract negotiation, project delivery, and post-sale follow-up. Ensure smooth transitions between the sales and implementation teams.

  • Client Relationship Management: Build long-term, trusted relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders at all levels within client organizations. Maintain regular communication to ensure satisfaction and identify future opportunities.

  • Market Knowledge & Trends: Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in the energy and sustainability sectors. Understand the evolving needs of public sector clients to anticipate opportunities.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, project management, and marketing, to ensure successful execution of projects and the development of targeted sales strategies.

  • Performance Metrics: Achieve or exceed sales targets and KPIs by consistently closing deals and managing a robust pipeline of opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in sales, business development, or account management, with a focus on energy solutions, sustainability, or public sector sales.

  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of energy management, renewable energy, energy efficiency programs, and public sector procurement processes (e.g., RFPs, government contracts).

  • Public Sector Expertise: Familiarity with the unique challenges and regulations facing state and local government agencies, K-12 districts, higher education institutions, and healthcare organizations.

  • Sales Acumen: Strong track record of sales success, with the ability to manage long sales cycles and navigate complex decision-making processes within large organizations.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.

  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders in the public sector.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Additional certifications in energy management, sustainability, or project management are a plus.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CRM software (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.), Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with energy modeling and analysis tools is desirable.

  • Travel: Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
