Our client is seeking a highly skilled HVAC Controls Project Engineer to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, commissioning, and optimizing HVAC control systems for energy efficiency projects. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, control strategies, and building automation technologies.
Design and develop HVAC control system sequences of operation based on project specifications and client requirements.
Program, configure, and commission Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
Perform system diagnostics, troubleshoot control issues, and optimize control strategies for energy efficiency.
Work closely with project managers, mechanical engineers, and energy analysts to integrate HVAC controls into broader energy efficiency solutions.
Develop technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, control schematics, and submittals.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, local codes, and client requirements.
Provide technical support and training to clients and internal teams.
Assist in cost estimation, proposal development, and system design reviews.
Conduct site visits to oversee installation, commissioning, and performance verification of control systems.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in HVAC controls
Proficiency in programming and configuring BAS/DDC platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, or Schneider Electric.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, sequences of operation, and energy efficiency principles.
Familiarity with communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and project management abilities.
Experience with energy modeling, analytics, and reporting tools is a plus.
