Senior Energy Engineer

Responsibilities

  1. Act as a client-side advisor and owner’s representative for energy and infrastructure projects.
  2. Oversee and coordinate the full project lifecycle, including planning, procurement, implementation, and commissioning.
  3. Lead the development of energy optimization plans, integrating audits, assessments, and analytics.
  4. Manage external consultants, contractors, and vendors, ensuring accountability and performance.
  5. Develop financial strategies and provide recommendations to achieve client goals, including leveraging incentives and alternative funding models.
  6. Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and utility companies.
  7. Provide oversight for project schedules, budgets, and risk management.
  8. Support clients in navigating permitting and regulatory requirements.
  9. Evaluate and incorporate emerging energy technologies into project plans.
  10. Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams and mentor junior team members.
 

Requirements

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in energy, mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Experience: 10+ years with a focus on project oversight, strategic planning, and leadership.
  3. Skills:
    1. Knowledge of HVAC, energy storage, renewable energy, and energy optimization.
    2. Expertise in energy modeling, fault detection diagnostics, and M&V.
    3. Strong project management skills, including vendor and stakeholder coordination.
    4. Financial acumen to evaluate funding options and develop budgets.
    5. Proficiency in software tools (e.g., Excel, energy analytics platforms).
  4. Certifications:
    1. Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or Project Management Professional (PMP).
    2. Required: At least one advanced certification (e.g., PE or CEM).
  5. Soft Skills:
    1. Strong written and verbal communication.
    2. Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams.
    3. Problem-solving and decision-making under dynamic conditions.
