Mechanical Project Manager

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a strong background in K-12 school construction projects to join their team. This role is responsible for managing HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical system installations for K-12 educational facilities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all specifications and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have experience working with school districts, general contractors, and subcontractors while demonstrating exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee mechanical construction projects for K-12 schools from pre-construction through completion.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Develop project schedules, coordinate with school administrators, general contractors, engineers, and field teams to ensure smooth execution.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control: Prepare cost estimates, manage budgets, and ensure financial performance of assigned projects.
  • Subcontractor & Vendor Management: Negotiate contracts, manage subcontractors, and oversee procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all mechanical work complies with school district regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
  • Quality Control: Conduct site visits, inspections, and ensure adherence to project specifications and client expectations.
  • Client & Stakeholder Relations: Act as the main point of contact for K-12 school representatives, ensuring excellent communication and issue resolution.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and progress reports.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of project management experience in mechanical construction, with a focus on K-12 school projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working with public school districts, state education requirements, and government-funded projects.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and LEED requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification (preferred).
  • PMP certification or PE license is a plus.
