Job Description Senior Project Development Engineer (PDE) is a full-time role within the Strategic Programs service line for our client. The Senior PDE will be responsible for and/or assist with data collection and assessment of as-found facility/system conditions, scope development, RFP development, proposal evaluation, and technical support during project execution and commissioning for energy and retro-commissioning projects for multiple hospitals within national corporate energy programs. The Senior PDE will be expected to establish goals, timelines, and budgets and ensure timely development of projects. This position is based in Nashville, TN, however remote work is acceptable.
Working closely with the Strategic Programs Director, internal resources, and contractor partners, the Senior PDE will ensure technical requirements, financial goals, and client expectations are met. The Sr. PDE reports to the Strategic Programs Director.
Experience Requirements
Leading cross-functional teams and monitoring progress against project objectives and schedules
Developing system retrofit solutions and optimizing Building Automation System (BAS) control sequences for maximum building performance
Working with multiple facilities projects simultaneously
Ensuring project objectives, client design standards, and deliverable requirements are well understood and effectively communicated to internal and external team members
Providing technical evaluation of contractor change order requests
Developing unique and forward-thinking engineering solutions
Serving as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on internal and external cross-functional teams
Participate in providing regularly cadenced project development status reports to stakeholders
Evaluating HVAC and Building Automation System (BAS) data trends and troubleshooting system performance issues
Ability to anticipate potential system operational risks and design mitigation strategies into system design solutions
Training client staff on new or unfamiliar system operating parameters
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Ten or more years of experience in HVAC & Controls system design, and Energy Engineering—particularly with retrofit projects in the healthcare sector
Solid understanding of Engineering Economics and project financial proformas
Experience with Building Analytics technology, Automatic Fault Detection (AFD), and Monitoring-based Commissioning (MBx)
Thorough understanding and application of applicable healthcare standards ASHRAE 170 and 62.1
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrable leadership skills, with steadfast resolve, and personal integrity
Proven teamwork skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Professional Engineering License preferred
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Certification preferred
